Weird Fishes

Ahh….Thursday, there is nothing like sleeping in and having to wake up to do laundry. There is nothing like washing clothes, taking up half of the day. You know what can solve that? Dog’s Bullocks. A great reading by Stanley Plumly and Robin Hemley. Cross Club to top it off? I think so. A dash of internet and we have a meal.

Tuesday: Finished my epic 4 page poem for my essay, the lectures today were interesting, I finished my synopses in class, printed them out, got lost going to the mall, found my way back to the Old Jewish Cemetary but it cost money and I am waiting to pick up some chalk to etch some of the graves, I did make it to Wallenstein Gardens which had an amazing koy fish pond. After that, I went back and rested until the reading. Melissa Pritchard and Ivan Klima did a really good job. One of the students here, Joe, had to read Ivan’s work because Ivan’s voice was going. Joe did an amazing job considering that he had less than a day’s notice to prepare. After the reading, Dog’s Bullocks…what’s new?

There are a lot of rocks in this place.

Monday: Class went well today. I got some great ideas for my poems. After class, Salvador and I went to this pizza place around the corner. It was alright. I said, “Thank you” to a waiter instead of hello. I went to the Metro and took it to Wencelas Square. I went to the National Gallery and it was pretty cool. I came back and accidently slept until ten. Now I am writing my essay and synopses due tomorrow. Oh no. I’m glad I am so insightful in these updates. Ha.

I’M ON A BOAT

Sunday: Matt and I went to Bohemia Bagel and got an amazing lunch. Afterward, I came back and chilled until Salvador, Bill and I decided to rent a pedal boat on the river. IT WAS AWESOME. So cheap! I lost my water bottle on the river but we maneuvered our way back to it before we put the boat at the dock.

Saturday: Slept in, went to Cross club, the most impressive welded bar I have seen, not that I have seen anything like it.

Hugfights and Hedgehogs

Friday: Class went well and my poems weren’t up for discussion so there isn’t much to say about that.I had much more to consider because I was reading that night. I spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out what to read and Matt was fervishly helping me edit and prepare my poems right before the reading. I also had to set up my computer to record the reading. Once it started, I was blown away by my class’ work. Everyone did such a wonderful job. There was a real performance to it all. I was surprised that I wasn’t too nervous when I got up there and it went well. Afterward, a large group went to Blind Eye, this dive bar far from the center of town. With drinks such as “Sex with the Bartender” and “Adios, Motherfucker,” I had a great time. I played some foosball and wahtnot. Afterwards, the group split up and Malcolm, Ema, Kirsten, Perry and I wanted to take a nice long walk back to the dorm. Unfortunately, we kept hitting dead ends. Some highlights were the invention of the hugfight, Ema speaking Czech to the wild hedgehog we found, and our school of fish mentality. All in all, a really fun time.
